When connecting your Applicant Tracking System (ATS) account to your website, you’ll choose between two different embeddable widgets: the Listing Widget and the Forms Widget.
Both widgets display your open jobs, but they behave differently when it comes to styling, application flow, and how many widgets can appear on a page. Understanding these differences will help you choose the best option for your website layout.
Before we dive in, one quick note: some of the examples below reference multi-site or staffing setups. If your account does not have Multi-Site or Staffing enabled, you’ll typically only need a single widget for your careers page and won’t run into these limitations.
Listing Widget
The Listing Widget displays a list of your jobs directly on your website and links applicants to your application form to apply.
This widget inherits your website’s CSS, allowing the job listings to match the design and styling of your site.
Use the Listing Widget if:
You want your job listings to match your website’s design
Your web developer wants full control over styling
You only need one job listing feed on the page
Important Limitation
Only one Listing Widget can render per page.
If more than one Listing Widget is added, only the first widget on the page will display.
This applies to all Listing Widget types, including parent and child widgets used with staffing or multi-site setups.
Examples
Here’s how Listing Widgets behave when placed together:
Two Listing Widgets on the same page
Only the first Listing Widget will render
Parent Listing Widget + Child Listing Widget
Only the first Listing Widget will render
Parent Listing Widget + Parent Forms Widget
Both widgets will render correctly
Because of this limitation, the Listing Widget works best when you only need one job listing feed per page.
Forms Widget
The Forms Widget displays your job listings and embeds your application form directly into your website.
Unlike the Listing Widget, the Forms Widget uses an iFrame, meaning it is styled according to your ATS account settings, not your website’s CSS.
Use the Forms Widget if:
You want applicants to apply directly on your website
You need multiple job widgets on the same page
You are displaying jobs from multiple sites or locations
Widget Behavior
Forms Widgets are more flexible and multiple instances can appear on the same page.
Examples:
Multiple Forms Widgets
All widgets will display normally
One Listing Widget + multiple Forms Widgets
All widgets will display normally
How This Applies to Staffing or Multi-Site Accounts
Accounts using Staffing or Multi-Site features sometimes need to display jobs from multiple locations or sites on one page.
Because of the Listing Widget limitation:
Pages cannot display two Listing Widgets at the same time
To display jobs from multiple sources on one page, you’ll typically use Forms Widgets
