How Does the AI Determine Pay Rates?

Our AI Pay Rate Generator pulls salary data from a variety of open job postings that match your role and location. Essentially, it looks at real-world job listings to estimate a competitive pay range for your position.


A few important things to keep in mind:

  • Location Matters – The AI scans job postings in the specified area to generate an estimate. Pay rates can vary significantly by region, so you may see different ranges depending on where the job is based.
  • Company Size Can Be a Factor – If you want the AI to consider company size, simply mention it in the first sentence of the Job Description (e.g., “Acme Corp is a company of 500 people.”). This helps the AI provide a more tailored estimate. Tip: Are there other factors you want AI to consider? Add them at the top of your Job Description before you generate the Pay Rate Recommendation. You can remove this information before publishing the job
  • Not All Industries Follow the Same Rules – Some sectors, like utilities or other heavily unionized industries, have pay scales negotiated under labor contracts. These contracts aren't always publicly available, so AI-generated estimates for these jobs may not fully reflect the actual salaries, which are often higher.
  • Where Does This Data Come From? – We use OpenAI’s technology to power our AI Pay Rate Generator. OpenAI pulls from a wide range of publicly available sources to generate these estimates.


While this tool provides a helpful benchmark, always consider additional factors like experience, benefits, and internal pay structures when finalizing your job offer.


How to Use the AI Pay Rate Generator

  1. Ensure Required Fields Are Filled

    • To make this feature available, make sure you have entered the following job details:
      • Job Title
      • Job Description
      • City and State
  2. Generate the Pay Rate

    • Once the required fields are completed, locate the "Generate Pay Rate" button on the Create/Edit Job screen.
    • Click the button, and the AI tool will analyze the job details and generate a recommended pay range based on current market trends for your job's geographical location.
